Tangram Swan

For math today, we had the choice to make a tan-gram or finish our tessellating patterns. I decided to make a tan-gram swan. It was pretty fun and easy to make and figure out how to use it. With this, we weren’t allowed to overlap and shapes and we had to try get it to look as much like the thing we were trying to make.

Te Karoro Karoro- Our School Production

The lights go out as the stage lights up bright orange and kids rush into the hall to start the performance. Last night, we had a performance in our school hall that included each and every class. The order of the classes were- Atahapara, Rongomatane, Papatuanuku, Tawhirimatea, Tane Mahuta and last was Tangaroa. At the start of the term, I decided to be in the construction group which included making props such as plants and wind. It also included making masks for the people who were being the animals in the performance. I decided to make a black swan mask with Paige.F and Zita.

At the start of the performance I was feeling pretty nervous because I didnt want to mess anything up because I was assigned to move props on and off the stage throughtout the whole thing but I was glad it wasn’t just me doing it. Paige.F and Aria.S were helping me out.

For me, my favorite part was Tane Mahuta when they were driving around the town inside the yellow VW.

Quick Write

It was a rainy day. The storm clouds were out, and the rain was pouring down, on top of everyone and everything. A little girl named Vicky was lost, wandering around a misty forest all by herself. She was thinking to herself ” How did I even end up here? I wanna go home”. As she walked further and further into the forest she could feel the ground beneath her shaking, like a giant was walking across the ground. She soon stumbled across a river and found sound waves in the water, like someone was walking through it, but they were too big to be human. She peeked around the tree she was hiding behind and saw a massive thing, towering above her. Her head moved to look up but her vision went black, and it felt like she was being carried. Soon enough, she passed out. When she woke up, she was inside a building but all the walls were black and the only light source was from a little lamp on the ground. She looked around the room, under the bed and inside the lamp, but she couldn’t find anything. Suddenly she heard a siren go off, and a door appeared in front of her. She tried to open it. It was locked. Vicky was never seen again… A couple years ago, I was in the same position as Vicky. I saw it, towering above my head, but when I ended up in that room, I escaped. Vicky missed something. Inside the light bulb of the lamp there was a key. She made a big mistake.

Holes Water Truck Drawing

For my Literacy creation, I have chosen to draw the water truck from the book “Holes” I decided to do this drawing because I thought it would be nice to do something that was on paper instead of on my chrome book. It took 4 days and I am happy about what I ended up with. The water truck went into the hole because Stanley was trying to escape from camp and he couldn’t see the hole so he drove into it.

The Mysterious House

My feet rustle in the bushes as I run along the pathway for as long as I can see. I trip and fall to the ground as my vision goes black. I wake up and I feel really dizzy but I decide to walk along the pathway anyways, holding onto trees and I go further and further into the blurry darkness. In-front of me I can see a tiny spot of light. I run as fast as I can possibly run towards the light and when I get there I see a beautiful mansion, covered in bright green

Mechanical Eye

“The last cog clicks into place and the whole room lights up a bright orange. The eye opens and closes over and over again until the light disappears. Smoke flies all over the room and the machine shuts down. The end”. “Aw we want you to read more”. The kids shout. “But that’s the end of the story” I reply to them. Hi, my name is Olivia, Olive for short and… I wake up inside a room, but it’s dark and cold. I can’t see anything and I don’t have my phone. I hear footsteps above me, creaking along the floor. In-front of me I spot a bright light and I try to move myself along the floor so I can reach it but I feel like I’m being watched. I turn around and the eye is right there, staring at me. It looks hypnotic and I start to stare at it. Everything goes black and I can hear loud talking, almost like someone is right kneeling next to my body having a conversation with me, but the voice sounds familiar……

All of the counselors slept in F tent and Stanley was assigned to D tent.  Stanley met his counselor Mr. Pendanski and his “inmates” from D tent.
